Youthab helps individuals obtain and maintain the three essentials for quality of life: housing, good mental health and employment.
Under the Youthab umbrella of services are the Career Edge Employment Programs, the Community Mental Health Counseling Program and three very specific Housing Programs: the Transition Home Program, Cooperative Housing, and the Hastings Housing Resource Centre Program.
Today, through our various programs and a dedicated staff of over 50 professionals, we provide confidential, professional services to over 10,000 people per year in the 6 communities we service in the Greater Quinte area.

The young people who live in our program are in need of safe, supported housing. They are between 16 and 24 years of age. The home is staffed 24 hours a day.
You will be paired with a Residential Counsellor. Together you will develop the skills to assist you in your goal of independence.
You will be sharing your home with other people. These are some of the guidelines that keep the home a safe and healthy environment.
Throughout the week, you will meet with your counsellor to work on life skills and discuss your progress in the program.
On Monday evening, there is a house meeting. All the residents attend this meeting and discuss any in-house concerns.
On Tuesday evening, we have a recreation group between 7:00 and 8:00 pm.
On Wednesday's Life Skills groups may include guest speakers.
The Residential Counsellor that admits you to the program will complete the following orientation package.
A resident summary sheet, stating who you are, your family contacts etc., program expectations, and house rules will be explained. A house tour will be conducted, detailing the fire safety procedures. Bedding, towels and toiletries are provided if necessary. Introductions to the staff and residents.
You will participate in a Life Skills Program that focuses on 16 specific areas. Depending on your goals, you may work on some or all of the following:
In addition to the practical life skills offered, the Transition Home works closely with Youthab's Mental Health Program to offer the resident every opportunity to achieve the goals they have been working toward. Living independently for the first time can be overwhelming. We want to do everything we can to ensure your success.
Upon completion of the program, Youthab can assist you in your move into a more independent living environment. The agency provides several housing opportunities, depending on what's best for you.
The other services Youthab provides are still available whether you are living in our housing or not.
Youthab's Cooperative Housing Program provides service to young adults who are assessed as needing subsidized housing.
The program provides staged, subsidized housing to young adults until they are prepared for a more independent living environment
Young adults are housed cooperatively in homes throughout Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
